2002 Recipient

Maher Photo

The 18th Annual Harrop and Ruth Freeman Prize in Peace Studies was awarded by the Peace Studies Program in April 2002 to Katelin Maher, a Cornell senior in the College of Industrial and Labor Relations with concentrations in International Relations and French Studies. She is seen in this photo with Barry Strauss, the Director of the Peace Studies Program at that time.

Maher was a Cornell Tradition Fellow for 4 years. In 2000-01 she was a study-abroad student in France during the fall semester and an intern with the International Labor Organization in Switzerland during the spring semester. Following graduation she planned to be a Peace Corps volunteer, and ultimately, hoped to pursue graduate studies in international relations and a career working with grassroots organizations. The value of the prize in 2002 was $2,500.
